Order of St. Nick in winter solstice

Winter Solstice will occur this year in the Northern Hemisphere on December 21st. It is the shortest day--and longest night--of the year, marking the beginning of winter. Nearly every culture celebrates the Solstice in some form, usually co-opting the date for religious festivals such as Christmas and Hanukkah. In recent years, Winter Solstice has become a popular holiday event in North America and Europe for atheists, agnostics, wiccans, and pagans who seek to celebrate the "holiday season" without resorting to the traditional theistic "Christmas".
